@jazzabellediary on instagram ~ outfits, details of my day & all things william morris

the one that nearly got away

Once upon a time, on the 9th August last year to be exact, I stumbled across this Whistles dress on Asos. It was pretty much love at first sight. Beautiful, autumnal colours & a flattering shape - what more could I want? I already had the matching jumper which was lovely quality, washed well (priorities!) and suited me, so I knew I would love the dress just as much in real life. One small hitch, I couldn't justify spending £140(!!!) on one item of clothing, so it sat in my saved basket, with my fingers firmly crossed that it would go into the sale.

A couple of months later it was reduced to around half the price - result! You know what's coming... Of course, it had sold out in my size. I searched high and low, checking the Whistles website, John Lewis, and every stockist I could think of, but to no avail. I even popped into my local Whistles store, however the team had never even seen the dress! I had serious regrets about not buying it in the first place, and honestly thought that was it. The one that had got away.

Months went buy and I still thought about the dress and refused to let it go. Then one afternoon on my daily lunch break Asos browse - eight months after I first saw the dress - it was back. In stock and in my size, from £140 down to £42! And if that couldn't get any better, I had a £5 Asos voucher waiting to be spent. Never have I purchased something so quickly in all my life! It arrived the next day, I tried it on, and let's just say the rest was history. My sartorial happily ever after.

Be prepared - you'll be seeing a lot of the dress (and the jumper!) this Autumn!
